Busy Kids

I’m currently out to accompany some kids in the poster making contest. It’s challenging to draw kids because they move a lot even if they’re watching a movie on ipad or if they’re drawing. But they sure are fun to watch.

Clair de Lune

image

I made a logo for my brother’s violin ensemble in the school where he teaches – Clair de Lune. It’s his birthday today and this is his special request from me. I exceeded 10 more minutes just to make some extra touch-ups.  I love the moon so I truly enjoyed drawing this.

Happy birthday to my bro Edmond. 🙂

In my Pace

Hopping Girl with Balloons

Reaching out as far as I could go
To a place only my mind can reach…

I stopped, yes, I rested for a bit
But on and on I will go…

Never giving up.
Always starting once again.

There might be a lot of frustrations
From halted plans and miscalculations.

But it is all better than regret
And giving up with a fret.

The world may laugh at my pace.
And scorn when I try to find my place.

But this battle I will always pursue.
I may rest but still I will continue.

Until the thing of my imagination
Is something near its realization.

Climbing to a Brand New Year

Ladder to Rooftop

It’s the first day of a brand new year
But there’s nothing extravagant, no out of town vacations or so
Just me flooding with thoughts of last year and the year to come.
What have I accomplished last year?
Any great stuffs or stories to tell?
Yeah, some stuffs here and there that may or may not bore
the lucky or  unlucky person to hear my ramblings.
So, here I went trying to order from the menu of the universe
thinking of things I want to achieve this year.
But thinking so hard makes me sleepy.
Or maybe I’m just thinking harder than I’m supposed to.
So before I end the day soaked with my own mixture of thoughts
I decided to see the sun as it sets on the first day of 2014
with a little challenge – to climb on the rooftop.
I have no trouble with heights, but I sure has one on the thought of falling.
But silly as it sounds, there goes my first challenge of the year.
Thank God nobody saw me in my funny pursuit.
Trying to look cool is the least of my concern at the moment
as I make my way up.
You see, the ladder we got isn’t the safest one you’ll ever want.
But it’s good enough to get there as long as I’ll conquer the fear.
As I finally succeed in getting there, heart shaking,
Seeing the 360 degree view of the sky is very rewarding.
As I lay there I could see the birds fly over me.
Seeing nothing but blue and orange and the cool breeze is ecstatic.
This is what every sociable introverts  like me want from time to time –
a place for peaceful isolation, a sanctuary.
As I greet the setting sun, I saw the first star of the night.
I thought that the star resides on a great height.
To conquer heights, you must conquer your fears of falling.
You cannot go up if you are too afraid of falling down.
“I can do that too.”
And then there goes the hardest part – going down.
I’m just glad nobody’s around to witness
my astounding awkward way of going down.
But it’s all worth it.
Many challenges awaits on this brand new year.
Yes, I am scared to fail…but it doesn’t matter.
If the prize of failing and trying is succeeding.

Happy New Year everyone!

30 Minute Portrait – Ana

30 Minute Portrait No. 6

ANA MANGAHAS
Pencil Illustration (6B) on Plain White Paper (5.25″ x 5.5″)

This pretty lady, Ms. Ana volunteered herself to have her picture drawn in 30 Minute Art’s Facebook page. Although it took me so long before I could actually continue this project (she volunteered on April 17), I got myself starting once again. Ugh, I might be a big procrastinator, but rarely a quitter.  The culprit is: I accepted portrait jobs which of course took me weeks to accomplish.  Actually I almost got carried away on this one. This took me 45 mins. to finish (shhhh) hahaha. It would have taken really a long time once my perfectionism sets in. But anyways since this is 30 minute art, I could let my perfectionism rest and just do what I can do in a shorter period of time. I don’t have the time pleasure of meticulously measuring every details to make the portrait looks exactly as it is, so I’m pretty sure there might be some errors here and there, but I guess it’s always has been exciting  doing portraits within 30 minutes.

Well, I’m gonna run out of pictures to draw soon, (I only have 2 pictures on queue) so, if you want me to draw your 30 minute portrait, pls. like the 30 minute art page (you can click it on the right) and comment somewhere here or there that you want to be drawn, and I’ll draw your Facebook profile picture. 🙂

Have a great day!

30 Minute Portrait – April

004 - April Salvador

Life is full of beauty.
Notice it. Notice the bumble bee,
the small child, and the smiling faces.
Smell the rain, and feel the wind.
Live your life to the fullest potential,
and fight for your dreams.
– Ashley Smith

The pretty girl on the portrait is April Salvador. I used her picture on the beach. I just love how the air messed with her hair . It doesn’t look exactly like that, but I guess I had fun drawing her hair.  If you want me to draw your portrait, don’t hesitate to tell me in the comments below. 🙂

Anyway I hope you are having fun. Have a great day!
