I want to wish my brother a happy birthday!!
It’s been a while since I last posted but somehow art is calling me yet again. Since it is my brother’s birthday, I grabbed my watercolor set and went for it. Because this is supposed to be a fast art, I didn’t sketch this with a pencil. Instead I directly used the brush. I am quite glad that my first fast watercolor portrait went out alright. This is just a small watercolor drawing , about 3 inches in size. So that’s that. I enjoyed holding the brush again.
Have a colorful day! – Melonaide
The desert and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus, it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.
The glory of Lebanon will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel and Sharon;
they will see the glory of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.
Isiah 35:1-2 (NIV)
Right now, we might not be where we wanted to be. We might be experiencing some problems and discomfort in our lives. And everything seems so hard. But with the help of a force far greater than our own strength such that of God’s, combined with our own action with determination to succeed, we’ll eventually get to where we wanted to be. It is because there is a price for success whatever our chosen field might be. It is definitely not easy. I’ll never learn how to ride a bike if all I ever think about is the chances of falling down and the increasing number of bruises. I had to learn it on my own, they all were kind enough to just tease me because I didn’t know something so easy and that they were too busy to teach me. But I can laugh at them now while I’m riding a bike! Woooot! LOL.
The bottom line is, problems are there to teach us, nurture us and strengthen us. It is through problems that we learn to value and appreciate the great things in life that we sometimes take for granted. All we have to do is work on overcoming it. And with your strength, support from love ones, and faith in the Lord, everything can be possible. We can bloom with full glory.
Have a blessed Sunday! 😀
Beyond the blue sea, what will I see?
Is it a place that is good for me?
Beyond the blue sea, what will I be?
I will be someone I want, maybe?
Beyond the blue sea, where will the wind take me?
Is it somewhere I can be free?
Beyond the blue sea, I will sail with glee.
Gotta keep on with this wonderful journey.
Old stories will soon end,
Old wounds will soon mend,
Old memories may soon be forgotten,
As the book closes…
The joy that it bring,
The lullaby that we sing,
I’ll treasure everything,
As the book closes…
New hope will now appear,
New opportunities will soon be near,
That’ll make it worth the tears,
As the book closes…
Two doors stood at the end of the hall,
One door is tall and the other is small.
As a girl passed by, she stumbled and fall,
And stared at the two odd doors fixed to the wall.
It is the dead end, there’s nowhere else to go,
Which door to choose, she do not know.
She looked at the big one, it must be easy to pass through.
The small one’s too small and looks uncomfortable too!
She reached for the big knob, but she can’t push the door.
So big and heavy, it makes her weary.
No matter how hard she push, there’s nothing she can do.
It is where she want to pass, but she can’t deal with its mass.
But there on the wall stood the little door.
Tiny and small, she crawled on the floor.
Although it’s small, it’ll lead her to the ball.
It is what’s important after all.
I’ll catch some stars and put them in a jar, then lock it tight and handle it with might
So that no matter how dark the places are, I’ll have tiny lights leading me with beautiful sparks.
I’ll catch some stars and put them on a jar, then lock it tight and handle it with might…
So that no matter how far all my dreams are, I’ll see some hope just by looking at the jar!
This reminds me of childhood. This is something I would wish to build as a child but we didn’t have a tree to build such. So, I were just contented to explore our yard and just dream about things or draw stuffs in my paper or small blackboard. And with that, I was already happy. It’s amazing how easily kids can find something to enjoy. As adults we set our standards for happiness too high that we tend to forget to enjoy what we already have.
I can’t think of anything to paint today. But then I thought maybe I just think too much. So, I just let my hand draw whatever comes into mind and then it turns out to this. I know I still need more learning to do, and one of that is how I can be more expressive through art and do something beyond just merely copying what our eyes can see. Hopefully, this 30 minute habit would shape me to become a better artist. 🙂
I copied this from Amelia Earhart’s plane that she used to fly across the Atlantic Ocean. I find it amazing that she did something so fascinating and adventurous as trying to fly across the world with her own plane. 🙂
